Riduzione permanente dei peli con un laser a diodo ad uso domestico: Sicurezza ed efficacia, ad un anno di distanza da otto trattamenti
CONTESTO E OBIETTIVI:
Valutare la sicurezza e l'efficacia di un laser a diodo ad uso domestico per la rimozione dei peli (TRIA Bellezza, Inc., Dublin, CA) in un regime di trattamento multiplo.
STUDIO DESIGN / MATERIALI E METODI:
Tredici adulti indicati con capelli naturalmente bruni o neri e con pelle di tipo Fitzpatrick da I-IV hanno ricevuto 8 trattamenti mensili con il laser a diodo a tre fluenze, con una quarta area non trattata come controllo. I conteggi quantitativi dei peli sono stati effettuati a ogni visita di trattamento e periodicamente per 12 mesi dopo l'ultimo trattamento.
RISULTATI:
I siti trattati hanno mostrato una diminuzione statisticamente significativa del numero dei peli, riduzione che è risultata generalmente più alta ad ogni trattamento e che è rimasta stabile nel corso del periodo di follow-up di un anno. La riduzione media percentuale del numero dei peli è stata del 47%, del 55%, e del 73% dopo 1 mese dall'ultimo trattamento; e del 44%, 49%, e 65% dopo 12 mesi dall'ultimo trattamento alle fluenze di 7, 12 e 20 J/cm(2), rispettivamente, in relazione al controllo. L'ottantasei per cento (86%) dei soggetti ha avuto una riduzione dei peli maggiore del 30% e il 38% ha avuto una riduzione dei peli >80% dopo 12 mesi dal trattamento. Allo stesso tempo, il 31% dei soggetti ha riferito una completa (100%) rimozione e il 69% ha riferito che i peli ricresciuti sono stati meno evidenti a causa di una maggiore sottigliezza e/o chiarezza. Gli unici effetti collaterali osservati sono stati l'eritema e l'edema che hanno avuto caratteristiche lievi, transitorie e che si sono risolte spontaneamente, di solito nel giro di poche ore.
CONCLUSIONI:
Il laser a diodo ad uso domestico è risultato sicuro ed altamente efficace nel ridurre in modo permanente i peli indesiderati.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES:
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a home-use hair removal diode laser (TRIA Beauty, Inc., Dublin, CA) in a multiple treatment regimen.
STUDY DESIGN/MATERIALS AND METHODS:
Thirteen indicated adults with naturally brown or black hair and Fitzpatrick skin type I-IV received 8 monthly treatments with the diode laser at three fluences, with a fourth area left untreated as a control. Quantitative hair counts were made at each treatment visit and periodically for 12 months after the last treatment.
RESULTS:
The treated sites exhibited statistically significant hair count reduction that generally increased with each treatment and remained stable during the 1 year follow-up period. The mean percent hair count reduction was 47%, 55%, and 73% at 1 month after the last treatment and 44%, 49%, and 65% at 12 months after the last treatment at fluences of 7, 12, and 20 J/cm(2) , respectively, compared to control. Eighty-six percent (86%) of subjects had greater than 30% hair reduction and 38% had >80% hair reduction at 12 months post-treatment. At the same time point, 31% of subjects reported complete (100%) hair removal and 69% reported that the hair that did regrow was less noticeable due to being finer and/or lighter. The only observed side effects were erythema and edema that were mild, transient, and self-resolving usually within a few hours.
CONCLUSIONS:
